Crystal Mill is a icon for the history of Colorado mining. It was built near the town of Crystal in 1892 and the penstock drove an air compressor for pneumatic driven drills used in the mines in the area. The road in is six miles of rough one hour driving or two hours of hiking. Leave Mable, Colorado in the early afternoon to catch the late afternoon sun when it warms the mill's wood. Wear a headlamp for hiking out in the darkness.
